Vintage 1994 Artisan White Stoneware Ceramic Frog Paperweight Figurine w Turquoise Blue Glaze, Signed Marilyn Stiles
Whimsical and expressive, this wonderful ceramic frog was handmade by Marilyn Stiles, California potter, in 1994.
This frog is one of the family
of magical and whimsical clay sculptures or ‘critters’ by Marilyn, her lizards, toads, frogs, slugs, ravens, foxes and pigs speaking volumes for the sense of humor and dignity she imparted to her clay friends.
Two felt pads have been added to this frog’s back folded feet.
It is in overall very good vintage.
There are a few production related glaze loss areas, that show the fired stoneware color of orangey-buff (2 spots on left eyelids, small area on left foot on side). The front hands resting under the neck each have a chip at their bottom edge, not visible when the frog is at rest.
The left back foot is chipped at the toe.
