Description
Air bearing test rate table Fecker high capacity aerospaceThis is a used high capacity rotary air bearing rate table that is used for testing avionics, satellites or inertial sensors. The main function of the machine is to provide a very stable and precise rotating table by the means of an air cushion that produces no friction. Once air is applied to the table, it can be effortlessly rotated and there is virtually no friction to slow it down.
This table is special because it is massive and weighs over 4000lbs. The payload of this unit is much higher than most other rate tables, unfortunately we dont know the technical weight capacity. The original manufacturer has been taken over by Acutronic so we could not locate the exact specifications of the system. We did test the unit with air and put more than 1300 lbs on the table and it still floated perfectly fine.
We tested the table by applying air and the table floats and can be spun by hand with only the mass of the table providing resistance. Once the table is spinning there is virtually no resistance and it keeps spinning. We also applied a DC voltage to the motor and the unit spun under power as well. Normally these units have a controller with a very accurate feedback system to control speed but the table can safely be powered with a regulated power supply.
There are a few electrical ports on the panel for the tachometer and other electrical instrumentation that is contained under the unit. The tachometer plug has a shielded pair of wires that goes to a terminal strip up under the base of the machine. Another larger canon plug has larger gauge wires that also go under the terminal block. There is a newer Matrix plug that goes to the Farrand preamp board.
This rotary air table can be used as it was originally intended in the aerospace field or it could be used in a more industrial manner such as a machine tool air bearing. We tested the air system along with the motor and both work well. If it were to be upgraded with a newer control system it would be a very capable heavy duty aerospace air bearing test table.

The new ebay buyer protection program has inspired us to offer all of our items “as-is”.
This does not mean that you are buying a machine with deficiencies, known or unknown.
What it means is that some of our items will be tested and will include the results in the description and others will be untested but described accurately to the extent that is possible without actually powering up the machine.
In addition to this written description you will have the opportunity to view high quality photos of the item.
With these two sources of information you will have as much information as possible without being physically here to inspect the machine.
Feel assured that we will make a diligent effort to give you an accurate description of the equipment.
As a buyer you should be aware that you are buying an expensive piece of equipment at a greatly reduced price and as such you may have to deal with certain unknowns and defective components which were not known and could not be known without full scale setup and operation of the machine.
Our experience in dealing with many specialized pieces of equipment has proven this to be a rare occurrence however it is a risk inherent in buying used equipment.
The very few times we have had to deal with these issues we have been very helpful in resolving the problem.
