This hammered copper shell is a culmination of GMS’s creative vision and knowing who in the US makes the best copper drum shell. Steven E Schifer is the master coppersmith they chose to partner with in the creation of this very limited run snare drum. But, you may know that already…
I used this exceptional drum in the studio and for a few shows. Otherwise, it has been safely stored on the studio snare shelf. The drum is completely factory original, except for the newly added Evans heads. (Heads are only lightly used.) Factory sticker, with production date, adhered inside the shell and Steven E Schifer dated signature etched inside. Other than a few oxidation dots inside and outside of the copper shell, the drum is excellent. Absolutely no issues of concern with this fine instrument. Bell brass reinforcement rings are flawless. GMS custom strainer functions perfectly and snare wires lay flat. See photos.
Scrutinizer Note: Upon close inspection, you’ll find a few finger prints, possibly some tiny micro-scratches/marks on the chrome and a few oxidation dots on the copper. Drum weighs roughly 18#’s. This snare is used, but, still looks great.
