Up for auction is a used, fair condition, Ludwig 10"x14" snare drum, marching style. NO RESERVE.
This used, fair condition drum has obvious scuffs and scratches on both the drum finish and the drum hardware. It has been recovered in black finish--we are unsure of what the original drum color was. It has 8 chrome lugs that are 8" long. The top and bottom, triple flanged rims are chrome plated.
The throw off is a P-85 style with Ludwig engraved butt plate. Above the throw off is the "Heinz" style brass badge with serial #?89980. The first number in the serial number is not readable as it was stamped on the badge crooked and that number didn't make it all the way on the badge. The badge says Ludwig, LUDWIG DRUM CO., CHICAGO, U.S.A and has the crossed sticks under the Ludwig logo.
Above the badge is a knurled chrome knob on the exterior of the drum that adjusts the round interior felt tone control. The interior of the shell is maple with top and bottom maple reinforcement rings. There are extra holes on the interior that appear to have been for a leg rest which were covered up when the drum was recovered. Also on the interior of the shell, where the P-85 is mounted, it appears that who ever owned the drum previously had perhaps replaced a throw off with an after market throw off. We are unsure of all the details as we are not the original owner of this drum.
The top head is a new generic white batter head and the bottom head is a thin clear generic head. The 25 strand strainer wires are after market.
