Hello and Welcome! Today we have for offer a
HAND CARVED OBSIDIAN OR BLACK TOURMALINE STONE FIGURINE / SCULPTURE.
THIS IS A HAND WITH 4 FINGERS THAT MORPHS INTO A GRASSHOPPER THAT SITS ATOP A LONG TAIL WHICH ALSO ACTS AS AN ARM, WHICH IS ALSO A DRAGON WHOSE MOUTH SITS UNDER THE HEAD OF THE GRASSHOPPER AND EATS THE ARM!
IT IS 11" LONG AT ITS LONGEST AND NEARLY 3" WIDE AT ITS WIDEST. SET DOWN IT IS AT A HEIGHT OF 1 1/2".
One finger has a tiny chip off its end. The grasshopper's wings are both chipped off, but its long fat body is fully intact. The dragon's body is fully intact as are its eyes. And the tail is fully intact.
This is an odd and wonderful item. Ethiopian? Very special. We have never seen anything quite like it.
