German drum building and design at it’s very best. (Credit to Ronn Dunnett, too, for the clever strainer system designed exclusively for Sonor.) Sonor German snare drums are legendary. This discontinued size brass drum is no exception. But, you know that already…
I purchased this exceptional drum several years ago. It was made in 2012, the year Sonor launched the ProLite line. (Production date stamp inside shell is “1210” - Sonor code for month/year manufactured date.) Sonor hoops were replaced with Ludwig 2.3mm triple flange rims. This snare was used mostly for live performances. But, saw some action in the studio. This drum plays and records like a dream. Ridiculously easy to play. The brass shell really sings.
This drum is in very good used condition. Absolutely no issues of concern with this fine instrument. The most overt signs of use appear on the Remo Vintage A batter head. Strainer functions perfectly and Sonor snare wires lay flat. See photos..
Scrutinizer Note: Upon close inspection, you’ll find a few finger prints, smudges and tiny marks on the brass shell. Also, one (of two) of the tiny rubber bumpers fell off the throw lever. (The other one is intact.) Drum weighs just over 11#’s. It’s used, but, still looks great. See photos.
