Vintage Ludwig Supra Phonic snare drum.
Keystone badge, 1960s. Serial numbers 480329. USA production.
Noted as the most recorded snare drum in history -- exceptionally crisp, resonate and responsive tone.
This drum consists of the original shell, hoops, lugs and butt plate. The throw off, muffler and snare wires are missing. No non original holes in the shell. Nice candidate for completion -- a used P 83 throw off and correct muffler can be found on ebay and other sites in the range combined cost.
The drum is in good overall condition. Shell exterior finish is sound with some areas of light surface pitting and wear from age. The shell DOES NOT have significant flaking like many of these older Supras. Some areas of wear and light pitting on some areas of the hoops. The shell interior is clean. One relatively small indentation on the batter side bearing edge.
New clear Remo batter head and used (in good shape) clear resonate head.
